I graduated from Istanbul University Cerrahpaşa Medical Faculty in 1995. I completed my residency in the Department of Radiation Oncology at Dokuz Eylul University in 2002. I continued my academic and professional career at the Department of Radiation Oncology at Dokuz Eylul University Medical Faculty, where I earned the title of "Associate Professor" in 2012. In 2021, I retired from Dokuz Eylul University Medical Faculty and took on the role of founding "Professor" at the Department of Radiation Oncology at İzmir Tınaztepe University. Since 2024, I have been providing services at my clinic.
Throughout my career, I have gained significant international experience, enriching my scientific and clinical practices. In 2001, I had the opportunity to learn and apply new treatment techniques at one of the world's leading centers, the Oncology Clinic of Rambam Health Care Campus in Israel, through the National Cancer Institute (NCI) Short-Term Scientist Exchange Program.
My education and experience as a scholarship student at the European School for Medical Physics (France/Switzerland), the European Scientific Institute (ESI), and the European Federation of Organisations in Medical Physics (EFOMP) have deepened my knowledge in medical physics and strengthened my ability to follow and apply developments in radiation oncology physics."
My passion for education continued from 2007 to 2009 when I worked as a research fellow focused on prostate cancer treatment at Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center (MSKCC), one of the world’s leading cancer centers in the United States. During this time, I was honored to be awarded the Turkish Radiation Oncology Society Scholarship, UICC Fellowship, and NCI Exchange Program scholarships for my work. While at MSKCC, I had the opportunity to apply the most current and advanced treatment methods in cancer care, as well as to collaborate with some of the world’s leading experts in monitoring and evaluating patients’ treatment processes, thereby enhancing my multidisciplinary knowledge and experience."
I have solidified my expertise in the field of radiation oncology by contributing to numerous national and international projects, particularly focusing on breast, prostate/bladder, gastrointestinal, and gynecological cancers as well as medical physics. I have supervised many master's and doctoral theses in these areas. Through projects supported by NCI, TUBİTAK, and UICC, I have worked to research techniques and drugs used in cancer treatment, aiming to develop more effective therapeutic methods for patients.
I have taken on the role of a speaker, trainer, and organizer at numerous national and international congresses, symposiums, and courses. My academic work has been published in various national and international journals. My articles and the national/international congresses I have attended provide me with opportunities to exchange knowledge with my colleagues and stay updated on current developments. The presentations I have made at these congresses have helped me enhance my professional skills and open new horizons.
Additionally, I contribute to the evaluation of the most current studies in my field by serving as a reviewer for various national and international journals. Throughout this process, I continuously strive to support efforts aimed at increasing scientific publishing standards and to serve the academic community.
I obtained the “Radiation Oncology Board Certification”, which is the most significant proof of competency and qualification in the field of Radiation Oncology, by successfully passing the written and oral competency examination conducted by the Turkish Radiation Oncology Society in 2011. With my academic work, I qualified to receive the “Re-Certification Degree” again in 2023."
The national and international experiences I have gained throughout my career have advanced me professionally. As a result, I have acquired the competence to provide personalized solutions by considering the individual needs of each patient during treatment processes.
I believe that each patient is a success story. It is my duty to contribute to their healing processes while also considering their emotional and mental well-being. Managing the treatment process of each patient to the best of my ability and helping them regain their health has always been my greatest joy. Furthermore, collaborating with my colleagues and students to share my knowledge in the field of oncology empowers me even more.
