Cervix Cancer

The most important cause of cervical (cervix) cancer is the HPV (Human Papillomavirus) infection. The HPV virus is very insidious and can be carried by individuals for years without causing any symptoms.

There are vaccines developed against the most common types of HPV that cause cancer, which are highly protective. If:

  • Girls are vaccinated with the cervical cancer vaccine,
  • Women undergo regular gynecological examinations and screenings,

Despite this, it is the fourth most common cancer among women worldwide. Early diagnosis and effective treatment can lead to very favorable outcomes.

Women aged 30-65 should not neglect regular gynecological exams and Pap smear tests. You can visit KETEM (Early Diagnosis, Screening, and Education Centers) or Family Health Centers for these checks.
