Gynecological Cancers

Gynecology, also known as women’s health, deals with women’s diseases from adolescence to menopause. The part of this field that focuses on cancer is called gynecologic oncology.
Cervical (cervix), uterine (endometrium), and ovarian (ovary) cancers are the most commonly encountered types of gynecological cancers.
Early diagnosis is crucial in gynecological cancers. Regular gynecological examinations and smear tests are the easiest methods that play a key role in early diagnosis. After diagnosis, radiological imaging (X-ray, ultrasound, MRI, CT, PET) is highly useful in evaluating the relationships with neighboring organs and the spread to distant organs.
In early-stage disease, surgery may be sufficient, while in more advanced stages, adding radiotherapy and chemotherapy increases the success of treatment. In some cases, radiotherapy and chemotherapy are used as the primary treatment.
Early diagnosis saves lives. Therefore, any new symptoms or signs that were not present before should be taken seriously, and you should share them with your doctor without delay.
